A second season of To Your Eternity was actually announced back in May 2016, and is scheduled to begin streaming on Netflix during the Summer of 2017. In the announcement, Masamitsu Morita said he would be directing the series and that the anime was currently in production.

Netflix tends to release their first original anime on the service every other month or so, and October will see the release of Josh Trank's Westworld S3, which will undoubtedly also be announced and released in To Your Eternity's new time slot later this year. Hopefully, season 2 of To Your Eternity will be announced and released on the same day, and will be made by the same production studio.

In its way, Eternity And A Day isn't all that bad a movie. It features some compelling performances from the cast, and hits all of the right notes at the right time. The final third of the film is absolutely monumental, especially between the two Peng-Lun Wang duos, Wang Duo and Mark Chao. That segment of the movie is sure to set high expectations for the sequel, and watching that segment is like being informed it is all going to be all right. The final scene is a tour de force moment, and it's an end to an era. I will highly recommend Eternity And A Day for its storytelling alone, which is an end-to-end satisfying narrative.
