About the Event

When life's challenges begin to seem insurmountable you need to take the path of least resistance and friction to breakthrough these obstacles. Spend a day retreating from the world as Ian helps you to get a better understanding of how incorporating yoga into your daily life will not only bring balance but give you direction on how to overcome these challenges from within.

When the mind and body are being run down by stress, sickness or disease it is time to delve inward not outward. Ian will discuss the relationship between ones own energy to create a balance to prevent stress, sickness or diseases and how yoga can potentially be used to cure or manage these conditions.

A large number of studies confirm that Yoga practice is most typically associated with reductions in the levels of the stress hormones cortisol and the catecholamines; a decrease in sympathetic activity, with a corresponding increase in parasympathetic activity; reductions in metabolic rate and oxygen consumption; and salutary effects on cognitive activity and cerebral neurophysiology.

India started systematic medical application of yoga in 1918. Subsequently, yoga therapy has proliferated in India with the establishment of yogic hospitals and clinics and the widespread application of yoga treatments by clinicians and yoga institutes. This trend is also spreading internationally, with the appearance of yoga therapy centers, the inclusion of yoga in hospital cancer programs and affiliated alternative medicine centers.

Yoga does more than make you feel good, this practices has real, concrete results for the mind and body— positively impacting everything from the brain and biochemistry to BMI and blood glucose levels.
